I have the dumbest food allergies. The staff went above and beyond in making sure I was taken care of-- the waitstaff and the bar staff made sure my food would be safe for me, and the chef even customized my my order of steak frites and gave me a bunch of delicious grilled bell peppers! The food is delicious, the staff is great-- no negative notes on my end! I'd highly recommend this place if you're in the area!

Had a great time sitting at the bar and enjoying some great cocktails and dinner. Everything was delicious with a great service by the bartender. Will return when I'm back in the area.

Mad + Vin is located inside the Landsby hotel in downtown Solvang. The interior of the restaurant gives me upscale farmhouse vibes -- modern but cozy. We were seated at a table for four adjacent to a fireplace. Half of the seating for the table was a comfy, high-backed love seat, and the other half were two rustic, wooden chairs with plush cushions. We all loved the Mad + Vin decor and continued to remark on it during our dining experience. Our sever was wonderful. He was friendly and perfectly attentive. I was having difficulty trying to decide what to order that would fit within my diet. When I told him "I'm trying to figure out if I need to order an additional carb," when I was asking about how much rice came with the salmon tartare, he immediately understood what kind of information I was looking for. His guidance was spot on. The menu is described as inspired by California's wine country - so New American. I ordered the salmon poke appetizer as a main and the duck fat fries on the side. I wasn't terribly hungry, and this was the perfect amount of food for me. The salmon poke was delicious - well seasoned and fresh, with wonderful little bits of hazelnut. The duck fat fries are not to be missed. The duck fat imparts a richness and depth of flavor that fried cooked in standard oils do not. The fries were wonderfully crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with just the right amount of salt. My partner ordered the burger, and he could not stop raving about how good it was, proclaiming that the quality of the beef was excellent. He shared my love of the duck fat fries too. My mother in law opted for the roasted chicken, which she enjoyed, but could not finish because the portion was enormous. In short, we were all very pleased with the food. When we reserved a table here, we were hoping for a nice dinner and to avoid the typical tourist traps -- that's just what we got. I'd highly recommend a visit if you happen to be visiting Solvang.

Came here for happy hour. Loved it. Mixed drinks were well made. Food was delicious and had solid portions. My friends and I came here for happy hour and skipped dinner because of how unexpectedly large the portions were. Very clean and modern. Not really the Solvang vibe though.

This is one of the only nice restaurants in Solvang. We wanted something a lil fancy for christmas eve. We showed up about 30 mins prior to our reservation time and we were still seated which was great. They had a great lounge area to sit, maybe order a drink, and just chill by the christmas tree. Away from the freezing outside. I didn't even realize this restaurant was part of The Landsby. The service was great. The food did take a min to come out. I ordered the bucatini and I added chicken because it had no meat. It was tons of mushrooms but I'm a meat girl. The food was fantastic. My mom ordered the steak frites which she loved as well. They had a couple christmas specials but our hearts were set on the OG menu. I would certainly return.

Went to solvang the weekend before Christmas and it was jam packed with so many people! Mad & Vin was a good escape from the crowds as tables were nicely spread out and the ambiance was clean, quiet, and classy. This is the place to try out if you are looking for a nicer dinner at Solvang vs the more Danish-specific or casual spots. I recommend reservations for peak seasons as they weren't taking any walk-ins from what I overheard. We ordered the Brussels sprouts and the farmer's salad as our appetizers. The Brussels sprouts were some of the best Brussels sprouts I've had! 10/10 in my book! The sauce that the Brussels sprouts came with paired perfectly and was very addicting. The portion size was huge! I joked with my husband I could have just ordered that as my meal and I would have been satisfied. The farmer's salad was the opposite- it was very mediocre and would not recommend. The description sounded great with all these ingredients but in the end it felt very one note. It at least added a light freshness to the meal. My husband ordered the filet mignon while I ordered the mushroom bucatini. The filet was cooked perfectly and both my husband and toddler really enjoyed the filet. I had a bite and I felt the flavor was alright, I preferred filets I've had at other steakhouses. My mushroom bucatini was very good with pasta cookness and overall flavor but this was so heavy on the mushroom flavor. You need to make sure you really like mushrooms before ordering this dish and that's coming from someone that usually loves mushrooms. The first several bites were great but it was hard to eat a lot of and I was struggling to finish it. They also provided pita bread and red pepper dip. For a restaurant with this price tag and ambiance, I honestly would have expected a better bread/carb offering. The pitas were on the relatively hard side so we barely ate it but overall the dip was okay. I would recommend for those wanting to have a nice, more formal dinner in Solvang. Aside from the Brussels sprouts, nothing really impressed me but was still an overall good meal to sit down and enjoy with my family.

Had a very nice dinner with friends at Mad + Vin on a Saturday. The decor is modern and warm, the service very friendly and attentive. Loved the luna Roja cocktail, perfectly flavorful and spicy. Excellent calamari appetizer, the breading was light and I enjoyed the jalapeño pieces. Ate the pesto crusted halibut (one of today's specials) and while it was tasty, I wish the fish was a little flakier. We also ordered a glass of wine that had so much sediment on the bottom of the glass, it must've been the last pour of that bottle. Overall a pleasant experience, I would gladly return.

Very good chicken Caesar salad and really good portions! Friends got the mushroom bucatini which had a nice mushroom flavor and pasta was cooked just right. They have happy hour from 4-6pm I believe. All their cocktails can be made as mocktails which is cool. I got the Luna Roja - a little sweet, which the waiter warned me about but still tasty. We got the cheese curds on the HH menu too. They give you pita bread with a roasted red bell pepper dipping sauce, nice touch! Overall cute and good food, especially for being inside a hotel inn.

Mad & Vin is located inside of a hotel called Landsby. We didn't stay in the hotel but we definitely want to! The place is absolutely stunning with that modern and minimalistic vibe. When you walk in you have to head straight to the hostess podium. That day it seems like they were understaffed; the party that was in front of us both waited quite a bit to get seated. Once we got sat the server was nice but once she took our orders she disappeared, and when she came back to drop off the food she disappeared again lol...we had to wave people down a few times. There was another server that was waiting the table next to us and she was strictly focused on her tables. Which is fine I get that. But they are not as attentive, the busser was amazing! He was super friendly, he helped us a lot and always greeted us with a smile! FOOD Baja Fish Tacos - 6/10 My BD didn't care for it as much, there just wasn't enough sauce and they don't give additional sauces on the sides just lemon wedges. In my opinion, the fish was cooked very well great light crisp and the sauce in the tacos were really good just not enough making the tacos a little dry. Roasted Veg Fritata - 6/10 It wasn't bad the cheesy potatoes made it pretty good but outside of the cheese I needed some sauce lmao..I'm sorry I'm a condiments girl!! Buttermilk Pancakes - 7/10 The bacon that comes with these pancakes were pretty good! And the pancakes were soft. Side of Waffles - ?/10 When I got to try the waffles it was already soggy lol so I didn't rate but it comes with whipped cream and berries. All in all, i do want to come back and try other items on the menu and definitely stay a the Landsby!
